Our experienced fitters prepare the flooring area for fitting the carpet, ensuring that any seams or joins necessary are minimal, resulting in a professionally laid carpet in any room in your home.
Preparing for our visit
We are happy to remove any existing flooring, but if you would like to do this, old carpet and underlay is easier to remove when cut into 1m wide sections which can be rolled up.
Any debris must be removed by vacuum or sweeping. If your floor is wooden, check for any loose floor boards and nail them down.
Installing carpet gripper rods
Next, we install the carpet gripper rods around the perimeter of the room with the nails already inserted in the gripper. Our gripper rods are suitable for both timber and concrete floors.
Installing the underlay
We cut the correct quantity of underlay to fit the floor, fitting up to the gripper rods but not covering them.
Fitting the carpet
We position and roll out the carpet ready for fitting, trimming any excess. We then stretch and secure the carpet to the gripper with knee kickers, continuing along each wall and each side of the room until the carpet is suitably stretched and secured on the gripper. It’s important that the carpet should be reasonably tight without damaging or tearing the carpet.
We tuck the edges of the carpet between the skirting board and gripper resulting in a beautiful smooth and tidy finish. We then fit doorbars where needed and secure them to protect the carpet edges.
Finally we remove any excess carpet and you are ready to enjoy your new carpet.
